Amateria - one of the coolest Ages in the Myst games, and one of my two favorites. (The other favorite being Stoneship.) But I have to say I HATE this evil ball-and-scales puzzle!

For those not familiar...

In this Age, you have to balance out a set of scales, essentially, in order to solve this part of the puzzle. On one end you have a ball on a chain. On the other...you have this ball. This ball is made of two different materials, each of which has a different weight. You have to determine what materials it's made of...and how much of each it contains, and there are only two places you can get a view of this evil thing...and neither is a great view. I figure if this was real life, you'd have to climb over there and roll the stupid thing around to get a look!

So here, the Stranger is doing just that. This was done for the contest the =Myst-fanclub is holding...but I am going to try a second piece. Whichever I like better will be submitted!

oooh! there is a composition, some move and shadowing you haven't tried until now in your works, if I'm not mistaken...Well, I don't know exactly what it is, but it looks like you did something new here -in your own unique style nevertheless. Very interesting one!!!

Hmm. I did use a screenshot for reference, so I can't take any credit for the composition. As for the lighting, I did do more with the colors than I usually do. It's sunset in this particular world, so I tried to get that lighting. It doesn't look much like the actual screenshot lighting, but it's not too horrible. :XD:

ah, so that's why it somewhat looks like something slightly different from your usual works.

It's effective and interesting in this pic, I like it.

Hehe yep yep! Composition is not my best suit. :XD: I'm trying, though! Thanks for the fave! I am planning another Myst-based picture from another of the Ages. I hope that one turns out better. It will have a storm in it so I have high hopes. :grin:

OMG best level
of the best game
of one of the best serieses
ever.
Nice job on drawing the person! I really like the way you have him crawling over the stuff to reach out to the orb!
But wouldnt he be wearing shoes?
I cant even imagine the kind of painful bug bites he'd have to endure in Edana otherwise... >__>
also another thing to consider.
We dont know ANYTHING about the person you play as (a really cool aspect of the series.
For all we know the main character may actually be a female!

Amateria's one of my favorite Ages...totally cool.

LOL Well I never wear shoes, and I wouldn't be wearing them when visiting their desert home...and thus would be caught without them when I went after Saavedro. :XD:

I always thought that since each player plays as a first-person...that they're playing themselves. If the player is female, so is the Stranger. Some people create a character to be the Stranger, too. One of the coolest things in the game.
