1st place: Goodbye I wonder sometimes, when I'm unable to sleep at night- did he know?

Could he have possibly known what was to come in a few weeks time?

Did he know when we picked him up from his home one afternoon?

Did he know when he pointed out the car window to houses on the block, saying, "Those were my old stomping grounds. I used to live in that house."?

Did he know when he took us to his favorite restaurant and asked for his favorite waitress?

As I sat, sipping chicken noodle soup, smiling at him from over the bread basket, did  I  know?

I conclude that no, nobody knew. No one ever does. We sit and smile, unaware of what the future holds in store

Do little to heal this wound
That no one else can see.

Never again will I ever hear
Your voice or see your face.
A photograph just doesn't hold
Your cheek and funny grace.

When your life ended
It felt like mine did too.
I'm not so sure it hasn't.
My heart never faded from blue.
